Both traditional metal braces and Invisalign are viable and effective options for most teeth alignment issues in Weybridge. Orthodontics,
however, is a complex area and your dentist may indicate one treatment over another, depending on the severity of your crooked teeth and bite issues.
At Weybridge Orthodontics in Surrey, we realise that each patient’s needs are unique and we do our best to give you a healthy and beautiful smile. Our patients can choose between traditional metal braces with a modern twist or Invisalign clear braces.
Metal braces
With modern technology, braces have come a long way and are much lighter and more versatile than they used to be. Metal braces with coloured elastic bands is a new, fun and aesthetically pleasing way to straighten your teeth.
Metal braces have been used for decades in orthodontics to fix the alignment of teeth. Of course, the materials and technology used have changed throughout years, but the mechanism remains the same. Metal braces consist of fixed brackets that have a wire running through them moving your teeth to the correct positions in your mouth.
As opposed to Invisalign, metal braces are able to correct even very complicated issues of crooked and misaligned teeth.
However, with metal braces come various dietary restrictions and a constant commitment to brushing your teeth thoroughly to help keep your mouth healthy.
Invisalign
If you do not want to wear metal braces and wish to enjoy the convenience of being able to remove your braces when eating and brushing your teeth, Invisalign may be the right treatment for you.
Invisalign aligners are clear, therefore most people won’t even notice you are wearing them. Since the aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions with Invisalign. At the same time, you can remove the aligners if you wish to brush and floss your teeth, therefore maintaining good oral hygiene.
However, Invisalign cannot treat severely crooked teeth and is not suitable for children.
