Have you been trying to find out more about orthodontics?

Having crooked teeth affects more people than you know. Adult teeth can come through crooked or with gaps for more than one reason such as overcrowding or their jaw being too large or small for their teeth. Here at Weybridge Orthodontics we have a variety of straightening appliances, so you can find the one that suits you the most. We provide both treatments and advice surrounding orthodontics Weybridge, so if you feel as if you or your child could benefit from having their teeth straightened we recommend that you book a consultation appointment with one of our practitioners to discuss the treatments that are available to you. Not all appliances will be suitable, so having a consultation is absolutely necessary so your practitioner can assess the condition of your teeth.

Are you looking for a discreet appliance?

Many adults refuse to get teeth straightening treatment because they worry about what their co-workers and friends will think of them wearing an appliance as an adult. That’s why when adults come to speak to us about orthodontics Weybridge, we make sure they know about the discreet, barely noticeable appliances that we have. Both Invisalign and Incognito offer you a subtle way to straighten your teeth, but Invisalign is more suited to those people who have minor misalignment issues and a primary focus on straightening their front teeth, whilst Incognito appliances are capable of correcting more severe misalignment issues. The Incognito appliance attaches to the inner surfaces of your teeth so it is concealed from sight from everyone else and you can expect this treatment to take up to twenty-four months to complete. If you opt for Invisalign you can enjoy the perks of having a removable appliance and a shorter treatment time of up to twelve months. This treatment, unlike others, uses clear, plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into their correct positions. The aligners are made of a thin plastic and fit comfortably over your own teeth, making it very difficult for people to spot that you are undergoing treatment.

Aftercare that’s taken seriously

After you have found out more about orthodontics Weybridge you may want to take a moment to find out more about your future aftercare. Aftercare is vitally important if you want your teeth to stay in their nice, new straight positions. Once your treatment has ended, your practitioner will provide you with a retainer to wear.

A retainer is custom made for you out of a thin plastic and should be comfortable to wear. You must make sure that you are wearing it constantly for a seven day period after your treatment has ended, as this is when your teeth are most susceptible to moving back to their original crooked positions. After this you will only have to wear your retainer at night, but the length of time you will have to wear it for at night, will depend on your individual circumstances. A lot of people will have to continue to wear their retainer for several years after their treatment has ended, but this can be months in some cases as well.

Looking for an alternative to fixed braces?

If you have always wanted braces but as an adult do not want other people to know you are undergoing teeth straightening treatment, there are many other options you can consider for a more discreet experience. At Weybridge Orthodontics we understand the need for this, which is why we offer alternative orthodontic treatments to traditional metal braces.

The benefits of correcting your teeth

If you decide to invest in orthodontic treatment, you can experience a number of benefits. Firstly, the appearance of your teeth will be improved, enhancing your facial aesthetics and increasing your confidence.

If you have any gaps in your teeth, closing these gaps will reduce the risk of you developing oral infections such as gum disease. This is because when you eat, food particles can build up in the gaps in between your teeth, which can increase bacteria in the mouth and affect your oral health if not treated early enough.

Orthodontic treatments can also correct your bite if you are dealing with an overbite, underbite or a deep bite. Having a misaligned bite can cause a number of issues such as being unable to chew your food properly, which can affect how your food is digested. Correcting your bite will also result in some facial changes and you will experience less headaches and pain in your jaw if you have been suffering with this.

What we can offer you at Weybridge Orthodontics

At Weybridge Orthodontics, we offer orthodontic treatment options for both child and adult patients. If you are unsure of the most suitable treatment for you, there’s no need to worry as one of our experienced dental professionals will be able to provide you with valuable information and bespoke advice in order for you to make an informed decision. We do this in the form of a consultation. This consultation is imperative for our patients, as it allows us to carry out a thorough examination of your teeth by taking x rays, clinical photographs and if needed impressions in order to create a bespoke treatment plan for your current dental issues.

If you are considering orthodontic treatment but are looking for a more discreet option, you may want to try Invisalign Weybridge, which uses removable clear aligners to straighten your teeth.

The benefits of using removable aligners

If you decide to invest in Invisalign Weybridge, one of the most noticeable benefits is that because the aligners are clear, when you wear them it will be hardly noticeable that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Invisalign Weybridge are also removable, which means you are able to maintain a good oral care regime throughout your treatment, such as brushing and flossing after meals. You also are able to have your favourite food and drink as normal but as mentioned it is important to ensure you brush your teeth before wearing the aligners again. They are also made to be comfortable and they reduce the risk of soreness and tension in the mouth.

Lastly, by using this treatment to straighten your teeth, you can expect beautiful results and once the treatment is complete, you will be given another set of retainers to wear overnight or fixed retainers at the back of your teeth to ensure that your teeth do not move back into their previous positions.

Incognito braces; FAQs answered

Are you an adult with a severe dental misalignment who wants a straighter smile? But does the thought of wearing a fitted brace fill you with dread?

incognito-weybridge

Luckily, you can get all of the advantages of a fitted brace without the noticeable aspects, from a lingual brace.

At Weybridge Orthodontics, we can offer one of the most popular lingual braces, Incognito Weybridge, to those who want a straighter smile without the inconveniences of a standard brace. Perfect!

Here we answer common questions about Incognito Weybridge to help you understand the brace a bit better.

Can anyone wear this brace?

Concerning Incognito Weybridge, there is a wide group that can use this brace.

Children, teenagers and adults can all wear this lingual brace as it is fitted.

While there is no real clinical difference between wearing a standard brace or a lingual one, our team will ultimately decide if you would benefit more from one type than the other.

Do the braces look different from regular braces?

Yes, they do and no they don’t.

A lingual brace is made from the same base materials as a standard brace; there are metal wires and brackets that are attached to the teeth. But the brackets are made from gold and thus look a bit classier.

However, when they are on your teeth, they look vastly different from traditional braces as they are fitted on the inside of the teeth and so no one will be able to see that you are wearing them.

Will it alter my speech?

As this brace is placed on the inside of your teeth it is likely that, in the first week of use, your speech will alter slightly as your tongue adjusts to it being where it is.

If you are looking for some pointers on how to ensure that your speech is minimally affected by the use of this brace, talk to our team for tips. We may recommend singing!

How long will it take?

On average, the wearing of this brace can take between 12-18 months to correct misalignments. During this time, you will probably need to see our team every 6-8 weeks for adjustments and tightening.

However, if you have a more minor issue, such as minimal crowding, you may only need to wear it for between 3-6 months and then we may be able to switch your treatment to an invisible aligner.

Will it be uncomfortable?

In this day and age where there are invisible aligners and dental implants, you would assume that dental braces were completely comfortable too.

However, as these braces are fitted, they will require adjustments and tightening. And while they are self-ligating (thus reducing pressure in the jaw) we would be telling fibs if we said that you won’t feel any kind of pressure while wearing them.

They are designed to move your teeth and, as they are aimed at correcting more severe misalignments, they are likely to need more adjustments than a clear brace. To mitigate any discomfort, you will need to take over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol. If you find you are in intense discomfort while wearing this brace, contact our team.

Common FAQs about Invisalign aligners answered

Are you eager to learn more about invisible aligners and how they can help you straighten your smile?

invisalign-weybridge

At Weybridge Orthodontics, our team knows all there is to know about braces and aligners, especially Invisalign Weybridge. So if you ever need help straightening your teeth, we are the people to go to!

Want to know a bit more about Invisalign Weybridge? Here, our team at the practice answers the most common questions we receive from patients about this convenient aligner.

What are invisible aligners?

Invisible aligners like Invisalign Weybridge are visually similar to sports guards, but are custom-fitted to your teeth. Instead of being made from thick plastic, they are made from thinner clear plastic which, while durable, is not as hard and is more comfortable to wear in daily life.

They usually come in packs of around 14 and, instead of using force to move your teeth in the way that standard braces do, invisible aligners gently push your teeth; each aligner in the series has a slightly different shape, to encourage your teeth to move.

Who can benefit from wearing them?

If you have a mild to moderate misalignment, overbite, underbite, spacing or overcrowding, then you are likely to benefit from wearing invisible aligners.

But to find out if you are suitable for them, you will need to see a member of our team for an initial consultation.

How long do they need to realign teeth?

When it comes to invisible aligners, they are estimated to take between 3-6 months to correct minor issues with misalignment. However, if you have a more complicated case of misalignment but our team still thinks you could correct it using an invisible aligner, then you may be wearing them for up to 9 months and over.

For a more accurate guide on how long your realignment will take, talk to a member of our team.

Aren’t they too expensive for most people to afford?

Surprisingly, no.

While you may look at the guide price online for invisible aligners and find them to be a little high, many dental surgeries (including ours) can offer them to you with financing options. That means you can spread the cost of the aligners over several months, helping you to get the smile that you want without breaking the bank.

For more information about this, talk to our team.

Can’t I get them cheaper online?

There have been many attempts by dental companies to offer patients unbranded invisible aligners in their own homes; all you have to do is send off for the kit, take a mould of your teeth and then, the aligners are sent straight to your home.

However, while these alternatives may be cheaper than the invisible aligners you can find in a dental clinic, there are often issues with them. For one thing, without a professional to oversee the mould taking process of examining your teeth at the beginning, the chances of an error occurring go up. And of course, when designing the actual shapes of the aligners, this is not a  good thing!

To get straighter teeth sooner (and safely) always approach a qualified dentist, like our team at Weybridge Orthodontics.

Advantages of orthodontics for adults

Do you need to wear a brace as an adult, but think it is a waste of time?

orthodontics-weybridge

At Weybridge Orthodontics, we know all about helping adults with braces, aligners and other orthodontics Weybridge and can attest to the benefits that these treatments can offer.

Still unsure about the benefits of orthodontics Weybridge? Here we have listed a few to help you see the benefits of wearing a brace or aligner in your adult years if needed.

Better oral health

Misaligned teeth are harder to brush correctly and by wearing orthodontics Weybridge, you can decrease the chances of developing gum disease or cavities. Why? Because there will be fewer places for plaque and bacteria to hide.

Better general health

As mentioned above, if your teeth are misaligned, there is a higher risk that there will be areas of your mouth that you aren’t brushing correctly. Therefore, it is more likely that you have hidden pockets of plaque.

And this is not only detrimental to your oral health, but excessive levels of plaque in the mouth have been linked in countless studies to higher rates of cardiovascular disease, cancers and even a higher incidence of strokes and heart attacks. This is because of the inflammatory response that plaque causes.

By wearing a brace or aligner, you are reducing the places where plaque can hide, and thus you are improving your overall health.

Decreased risk of injury

Protruding, misaligned or badly spaced teeth have been found to be a factor in serious facial traumas. In other words, if you have teeth that are not correctly aligned and you fall on your face or hurt yourself, there is a higher chance of a serious facial injury occurring.

Not only that, but you are also increasing the risk of damage occurring to your tongue, inner cheeks and of course, your teeth! A protruding tooth is a tooth that is easier to knock loose and so, if you have a misalignment that has caused the odd cut on the tongue, then you should consider wearing a brace or aligner.

Better breath

OK, so this links to the better oral health point from above, but when you have straighter teeth, there are fewer places for plaque to hide and cause bad odours.

And so, along with having a straighter smile, you will also notice that you won’t need so many breath mints to get through the day and you will have no lingering tastes in your mouth. And should you get anything stuck between your teeth, it will be easier to remove it!

Confidence

When you were a child, if your parents had told you that you needed to wear a brace, you would have probably seen it as some form of punishment.

As an adult, you may look back and regret saying no to your parents who were only trying to help! But as an adult, you have the clarity to see that a brace or aligner is going to not only straighten your teeth, but will offer all of the advantages mentioned above and more, with a key one being confidence. Getting a straighter smile as an adult will lead to more smiles, an improved sense of confidence and higher levels of self-esteem. Why not contact our practice today?

Facts about Invisalign aligners

Have you heard about the latest craze in adult orthodontics; invisible aligners?

invisalign-weybridge

Discreet, effective and more affordable than many people realise, invisible aligners have ushered in a new era of dental realignment procedures and more people are able to have them than you may think!

At Weybridge Orthodontics, we are proud to be able to offer Invisalign Weybridge to our suitable patients and know all there is to know about this aligner.

Want to learn more about Invisalign Weybridge from us? Here are 5 top facts you may not know about it.

They aren’t invisible

OK, so as they are called invisible aligners, it can be easy to assume that they are invisible.

And while we may be able to move teeth using invisible force fields in the future, for now, they are the closest thing we have! Invisalign Weybridge is made from clear plastic that is malleable but also firm. They slot over your teeth as a mouthguard does and as they are fitted precisely to your teeth, you can wear them with maximum discretion.

So, they are the closest thing yet to an invisible aligner that is used in dentistry.

They aren’t for everyone

Yes, invisible aligners have come a long way concerning what kinds of orthodontic issues they can treat.

But sadly, they still aren’t for everyone. If you have a more complex case of dental misalignment, need to have your molars moved or rotated, or if your upper and lower jaws don’t mesh together, then invisible aligners may not be for you.

This is why it is so important to have trained dentists assess suitability for these aligners, if not they can at best do nothing to resolve a severe misalignment or, at worst, make it more complex.

They require specialist training to use

A dentist or orthodontist who uses invisible aligners will have needed to attend an additional training course to use them correctly.

And while all of our team at Weybridge Orthodontics who use this aligner have attended this course, it is important to be aware that when you are looking for a specialist to use this aligner that you should ask to see their qualifications for additional training.

They can’t be bought online

If you have been online or have been watching TV, you will have undoubtedly seen one of the adverts offering to deliver custom-fitted aligners directly to your home.

While this may seem harmless, it can cause a myriad of dental issues; you don’t have a professional to measure your teeth at the start and you will need supervision throughout the treatment to ensure it goes well. If you don’t have this, it can be problematic for your teeth.

So, in short, you cannot buy effective invisible aligners online; come in and see our team instead!

They are extremely efficient!

And finally, but importantly, invisible aligners are extremely efficient at straightening teeth.

If used for the allocated 22 hours per day, and if you stay on top of your oral hygiene and dental check-ups, the result of this aligner will be a dazzling smile that you won’t be able to stop showing off.

Discover the many orthodontic benefits of choosing Incognito in Weybridge

Hidden wonders

incognito-in-weybridge

At Weybridge Orthodontics we always want our patients to feel their absolute best and have the confidence in themselves to smile to their heart’s content.

Treatments such as Incognito in Weybridge are one of the many ways that we achieve this goal, by giving patient’s of all ages the opportunity to realign crooked or overcrowded teeth without impacting how they look aesthetically.

The ability to discretely realign smiles has resulted in a huge rise in the amount of patient’s – both younger and older – turning to us here at Weybridge Orthodontic and expressing an interest in Incognito braces.

What makes Incognito braces special?

Incognito in Weybridge is a form of treatment that is known as cosmetic orthodontics, whereby the orthodontic treatment has been specifically designed so as to minimise the visible impact it has on a patient’s appearance.

Incognito braces achieve a straighter smile through a method that is, in principle, very similar to how conventional fixed metal braces operate.

Traditional braces require a bracket to be boned around the front of each tooth, which is then connected using a thin metal or plastic wire. Over time, this wire applies tension to the crooked or overlapping teeth and pulls them into position.

Where Incognito braces differ, however, and what separates them as a cosmetic orthodontic treatment, is that the brackets and wires are all attached to the inside of a patient’s teeth only – meaning they are obscured from sight.

Being hidden in this way allows for patients of any age to undergo fast-acting and effective long term dental realignment, without ever having to be concerned with the aesthetic implications of fixed metal braces.

How do you get Incognito in Weybridge?

At Weybridge Orthodontics we’ve helped transform countless smiles through Incognito treatment over the years.

We always find that the best way to start Incognito treatment off is with an initial consultation to discuss the details of Incognito treatment – such as the timescale and what results patients can expect. These consultations also let us take the measurements and photographs which we will need to craft each patient’s custom-made braces.

Incognito is the UK’s only fixed orthodontic appliance which is both 100% custom-fitted and discrete. As such, each set of Incognito braces must be carefully crafted for the patient who is receiving them, so they fit perfectly to the interior of their teeth.

Before our orthodontists fit every patient with their unique Incognito lingual braces system, we use 3D rendering technology to create an accurate image of what their smile will look like once they have finished their treatment.

We’ve found that this can be a great help in giving patients the confidence they need to go ahead with Incognito treatment as they can see how the results will pay off in the end.

If you are interested to find out more about what Incognito braces could do to straighten your smile, then the first step is to arrange a consultation with one of our in-hour dentists.

As all installations of Incognito braces are unique and tailored to those who are getting them, we always work our hardest to adapt our services to meet every patient’s specific needs.

Is Invisalign in Weybridge the hidden solution to your orthodontic worries?

Discover your discrete options

invisalign-in-weybridge

At Weybridge Orthodontics we have always made it our goal to make sure that all our patient’s in Weybridge and beyond can attain easy access to some of the most popular and beneficial discrete orthodontic options such as Invisalign in Weybridge.

Across the country, there are literally thousands of people who live every day with crooked and badly shaped smiles but refrain from seeking out orthodontic assistance.

One of the most common reasons that people often sight for not getting any form of orthodontic care is that they do not want to have fixed braces installed in their mouths as they are concerned with how it will make them look.

To anyone who feels this way, we want to stress that here at Weybridge Orthodontics our practitioners are more than capable of providing attentive cosmetic orthodontic options – such as Invisalign – which can give them the opportunity to align their smiles without the treatment impacting their outward appearances.

What is Invisalign in Weybridge?

Although we’ve been offering Invisalign in Weybridge to our patients for some time now here at Weybridge Orthodontics, there continues to be a portion of people out there that are unaware of what Invisalign actually is or the positive impact it could have on their oral futures.

Invisalign was first conceived back in 1998 by a Stanford University graduate called Zia Chishti who wanted a way to align a person’s teeth in a way that has almost no impact on how they look.

The basis of Chishti’s Invisalign system is to remove the conventions associated with orthodontics of that time – which mostly relied on fixing brackets to every tooth and applying tension to them with a wire.

Rather than take this approach, Chishti decided to explicitly employ the use of a series of custom-made retainers which have pressure points inside them that push misplaced teeth together over time.

After being approved by the FDA in 1998 the Invisalign retainer system gained worldwide popularity and by 2000 was one of the most popular alternatives to traditional orthodontics across the globe, and still is to this day.

What is the process of getting Invisalign at Weybridge Orthodontics?

The Invisalign system, at its core, requires an individual and bespoke approach and the retainers are each custom-made specifically to fit the patient getting them.

As such we always begin each course of Invisalign treatment here at Weybridge Orthodontics with a consultation.

These are an essential part of the process as they let us work out whether or not each patient will be eligible for Invisalign – as their gums need to be of a certain level of health for the treatment to be successful.

Another benefit of these consultations is that they allow patients the opportunity to ask our dentists any questions that they may have about the Invisalign process, and what the results will look like. Once we’ve completed these initial consultation stages the measurements, photographs or digital impressions we need to build every patient’s unique set of transparent, removable Invisalign retainers – which they can then take home with them to carry out the process at their own leisure.

Is there more to orthodontics in Weybridge than you first thought?

What sort of orthodontics do you offer?

We’ve always strived to be an orthodontist who makes use of every possible treatment that our patients may need, and we always are adapting the treatments we provide to make use of new and emerging technologies and approaches.

At current we provide over 11 different types of orthodontics in Weybridge, which range from more traditional braces to cosmetic alternatives such as Invisalign or Incognito.

As we offer such a large amount of options, and as each treatment has its own sets of advantages and appeals for different patient’s, we feel the best way to get every patient the perfect care for their needs is to have them visit our practice for a preliminary consultation.

After a patient has undergone this consultation, they should have a clearer picture of the various types of orthodontics in Weybridge that we offer and a better idea about which treatments may be best suited to their needs.

What is cosmetic orthodontics?

Over the past few years, we’ve noticed a steady and consistent rise in the volume of patients who are interested in seeking out cosmetic orthodontic treatments over more traditional routes.

These sorts of orthodontics are all specifically designed so that they do not have a damaging effect on a patient’s appearance while they are undergoing treatment, and each type of procedure goes about achieving this in different ways.

One of the most widely recognised and popular forms of cosmetic orthodontics which we provide to our patients here at Weybridge orthodontics on a regular basis is the Invisalign retainer system.

Invisalign stands apart from most other forms of orthodontic alignment as it does not call for anything to be bonded or attached within a patient’s mouth during the course of treatment.

Instead, the process of moving crooked teeth is carried out by pressure points within a series of custom-built dental retainers. Each of these retainers is incredibly thin (yet still sturdy) and transparent so that they become almost totally invisible when worn over the patient’s teeth.

What are lingual braces?

Another form of cosmetic orthodontics which is massively popular here at Weybridge Orthodontics is the Incognito lingual braces system.

Incognito braces are an ideal choice for anyone who wants a fast and effective way of realigning their smile in a way that leaves no visible trace.

Lingual braces are attached to a patients teeth in a way that is very similar to traditional braces, with their defining difference being that they are bonded to the inside of a patient’s teeth, rather than the front. This means that they can live their lives as normal without having to worry that they will draw unwanted glances or attention to themselves in the process.

Could Invisalign in Weybridge help unlock your smiles true beauty?

Clearly effective alignment

At Weybridge Orthodontics we aim to bring the best in orthodontic treatments to our patient’s, and let them find their true smile (and the confidence to let it shine).

invisalign-in-weybridge

One of the most popular ways in which we do so is through Invisalign in Weybridge, which is a revolutionary form of alternative cosmetic orthodontics to traditional braces.

Since its inception, the Invisalign braces system has been used on millions of happy patients worldwide, and the following article will provide readers with everything they’ll need to know about what Invisalign is, or how it could help their smiles.

What makes Invisalign different?

Invisalign was introduced to the global market back in 2001, and since then it has become massively popular across the globe – particularly for younger patients who desire a means of realigning their smiles without bringing too much attention to themselves while doing so.

Rather than approaching the problem of crooked teeth through more traditional approaches – such as attaching ceramic or metallic brackets to every individual tooth – the Invisalign method aligns a patient’s teeth through completely non-invasive means.

The whole process of shifting crooked teeth with Inviaslign in Weybridge is carried out by carefully and deliberately positioned pressuepoints and grooves within every custom-built retainer.

These retainers are built using a patented specialist dental plastic which is called Smarttrack, and is made especially for the patient who wears it, from a mould or digital impression of their unique dental makeup.

As every Smarttrack Inviaslign retainer is completely see-through and thin, when the patient slips it over their teeth the retainer becomes totally undetectable.

What is the process of getting Invisalign in Weybridge?

Although the Invisalign aligner system has helped millions of smiles across the world, sadly not everyone will be eligible for Invisalign treatment imediately, as their gums and oral health has to be of a particular standard in order for the treatment to be effective.

As such, we always begin each course of Invialsign treatment with an examination and consultation with our patient’s to gauge their existing dental health and work out if we’ll need to do any preventive or restorative treatments before Invaslign is an option.

These consultations also provide the perfect opportunity for patient’s to ask us any questions they may have about the process, as well as allowing us to illustrate to them through a 3D digital rendering what their smile is going to look like after finishing a course of Invisalign.

After our oral examiner has detailed the process of Invisalign and taken all the necessary photographs, the construction of your custom-made Invialsign retainer sets will begin.

As no two sets of teeth are ever misaligned in an identical way, the process of making a customised retainer to perfectly match each patient can take some time. After being built though, the patient can take their retianers home and begin wearing them for at least 20-22 hours a day.

One of the biggest advantages of choosing Invisalign over conventional braces – besides the cosmetic advantages – is that the retaienrs can be taken out whenever the patient chooses to. This makes doing things such as attending important job interviews or socal events far easier as the retainer can be periodically removed and put back on without anyone knowing.
