It’s all well and good getting adult braces when you only have mild to moderate alignment issues going on. You can have clear ceramic brackets, tooth-coloured wires or clear aligners that pretty much disappear altogether when they go on over your teeth. But what if your teeth are way more wonky than such devices can cope with? Do you have a stark choice between living with teeth that look like they had a party in your mouth or spending a couple of years behind the bars of heavy duty braces?
The answer is no. There is a third option: Incognito in Weybridge from us at Weybridge Orthodontics. These gold alloy beauties can cope with any alignment issue, no matter how severe and complex, and they can do it with complete discretion, even more so than clear aligners.
Behind the teeth, not in front
The clever thing about Incognito in Weybridge is that they are fixed to the tongue side of the teeth rather than the cheek side. This means they are completely hidden from view.
Incognito is a bracket and wire device but the difference is that each bracket is made to measure for the lingual side of each of your teeth. We scan your teeth to get pinpoint accurate measurements and devise a treatment plan. The gold alloy brackets take a while to make, so there is a hiatus between your measurement appointment and coming back to get your braces fitted.
Once they are on, you may find it takes a few days to get used to wearing them. Your speech may not be as clear as you adjust to having lingual braces but this will pass.
You will need to come back to us for regular check-ups and adjustments and how long the treatment takes depends entirely on what needs to be done. It could be 2 years or more for complex alignment issues. To everyone around, it will look as though your teeth are being straightened by magic.
After your teeth are aligned, you will need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in the correct place while the jawbone settles down around them.
